50 Shades of Grey

Thanks to the genius that is E. L. James we are all in a tizzy over Fifty Shades of Grey and more notably, Mr Grey! So in the spirit of all things sultry, sexy and oh so naughty here are my top makeup products... yep... you guessed it... in varying shades of grey! Afterall, 'we aim to please...'.

While I certainly wouldn't suggest going all out grey on your makeup look - ending up more Walking Dead than Anastasia Steele isn't the look we're going for! However, adding just a touch of grey tones to your look can add some real sophistication and best of all, grey is a neutral which means anyone can wear it. Just 'forget about the rules' and 'embrace your inner goddess'!

Now nobody does pearly sheen better than Ben Nye and pearly sheen in grey tones... yum! Ben Nye's Pearl Sheen Eye Accent's in Electric Eel, Nightclub and Silver Grey can be applied wet for intense colour and sheen or use a dry brush for a softer effect. Oh so blendable and you'll love the payoff. Apply all over the lid for a soft smokey effect thats soft and wearable, even during the day.

Fancy even more shimmer? Grab yourself Ben Nye's Fireworks Creme Color in Silver Satin and apply to your lids with a fingertip or a synthetic brush. A pretty and soft radiance will ensue, making your inner goddess soar... (not sore!). 

Top with Sugarpill's ChromaLust Loose Eyeshadow in Grand Tiara for a jewel-like dazzle. For extra sexiness use a dry brush and apply to your decolletage making you more than ready to 'chase the dawn' with Mr Grey :D 

Like your look more feline? See yourself as  a bit more Mrs Robinson? Get yourself some La Femme Cake Eyeliner in Charcoal and using a wet angled eyeliner brush, apply close to your lashes, adding a soft or dramatic feline flick at the outer corners (if your eye shape can take it). You'll be 'fifty shades of...' oh so sexy in no time!

Collection 'Work The Colour' Eyebrow Kit

Eyebrows... I have an obsession. The first thing I notice on anyone is their brows. I will not let anyone touch my own as it's taken me years to get them how I want them. I'm still not totally there yet. I feel a makeup look isn't complete with brows being filled in, so I picked up this little kit from Collection a few weeks ago as it was on offer.

(NO idea why these uploaded sideways, and for some reason it won't let me flip them) But I digress... This cute little set comes with 3 colours, a brow gel and a little double ended brush. The one strange thing I noticed was that once you remove the plastic packaging there's no where to store the gel. I'm not a big fan of brow gel anyway so this didn't bother me too much. Too be honest I didn't even open it :)

The powders themselves are quite a nice texture and a nice range of colours. I imagine this would be a nice addition to a students kit, or someone starting out in the business. Although you don't have to be an mua to use this, as the colours you don't use on your brows can double up as eye shadows too.

This would be handy to carry in your bag as it also has a small mirror inside and with the double ended brush you can fix brows and eyes on the go! This is priced at €4.99 in Boots at the moment which is pretty reasonable for 3 pretty matte shadows. Are you a fan of Collection? Is it all about the brows??

Maybelline's Color Tattoo 24HR Eyeshadow

Over the Christmas I picked up, and received, quite a few makeup bits. Admittedly, I don't ever really need an excuse to buy new makeup, but it's nice to have one anyway...

So although I was a bit slow to pick up these next bad boys, now that I've gotten my hands on them I can't do a makeup look without them! I'm talking about Maybelline's Color Tattoo 24HR Eyeshadow.

I picked up two colours as they were on offer. I chose 'Permanent Taupe' and 'Pink Gold' as I wear a lot of natural colours day to day. 'Permanent Taupe' is a matte taupe (duh) while 'Pink Gold' is a pink toned shimmering gold (again duh). So they do what they say on the tin! Seems good so far.

Immediately I loved the colours, although they don't show up too true on camera with the flash. The 'Pink Gold' isn't quite as shimmery in real life... The flash gave it a bit of an extra kick!

So that's all well and good, but how do they last? They're a dream to apply. I used a fluffy brush to sweep them over my lid and into my crease. I tested these both with eyeshadow over and without. They work beautifully as a base, and my eyeshadow didn't budge at all, all day! I was more wary to try these by themselves as they are cream shadows, however they lasted amazingly well! After about 8 hours they started to slightly crease, however with a little blending of my finger, my eye makeup was good as new!

I'm a huge fan of these, and at €10.49* in Boots I think these are brilliant value as they will last you a long time. I'll definitely be picking up more colours soon.
