Seventeen Falsifeye HD!

No look in my eyes (pun intended) is complete without mascara. Even on those days were I'm not too bothered with a full face of makeup, I always like to put on a little foundation and mascara. It opens the most tired looking of eyes, and makes them pop just a bit.
However out of all makeup products it's the one that I just can't justify spending a huge amount of money on. It expires so quickly and honestly I feel like most brands are similar enough. I normally stick to the same 2 or 3, but I had read so many good reviews on Falsifeye HD I had to pick it up.

I really love the packaging on this. The black and pink is really pretty, and I feel it looks like a higher end brands design. This mascara comes with a plastic wand. In general I actually hate these brushes. I find they don't coat my lashes well and clump like crazy. But I was willing to give it a shot!

Off the bat I was impressed. I used 3 light coats on one eye to compare the difference of that and my natural lashes. Of all the mascaras I've ever used this was the only one to ever give my lashes some kind of lift. I've tried many mascaras that are supposed to lift and curl, but to no avail on my poker straight lashes. Until now!! My only issue with it was that if you get a little heavy handed it can clump quite easily, and it wasn't easy to brush the clumps out. So because of this fact I keep this strictly for 'night time' makeup, where I can go really heavy with it, and can absolutely get away with it. However for the simple reason that this actually gives my lashes a bit of 'body' as it were, it will definitely be a repurchase!

It wears really well, and it didn't notice a any transfer or fallout even after a full day of wearing it! 

Seventeen have really upped their game. They're now always a brand I check out when popping into Boots. I'll definitely be trying out more from their range soon. Falsifeye is available for €9.49 in store and online.

Rimmel Day 2 Night mascara vs Collection Supersize mascara

One makeup product I never like to spend a huge amount on is mascara. In my very humble opinion most are very similar, and dry out far to quick to fork out anything over €10. But nevertheless I love trying out new ones. So today I have reviewed two reasonably priced (even if one is slightly over my usual budget!) little gems.

First up is Rimmels Day 2 Night. The 'science' behind this double wand idea is one gives your lashes length for day time while one the other gives extra volume for night time. It's a nice idea, two mascaras in one, but does it work?

Well I'm happy to report back, yes it does! The length side really does give the appearance of longer lashes, while the volume side also does what it says on the tin (provided you don't go to heavy handed with it). It drys pretty quickly, and doesn't flake throughout the day. At €10.19 in Boots, it's definitely worth a try :)

Volumising 

So next up is a slightly cheaper product, with no 'two fancy wands', yet it left me pleasantly surprised. I picked up Collections Supersize mascara on a whim as part of a deal in Boots. I didn't have great hopes as it retails at €3.99 but boy was I wrong.

It claims to give 'fat lashes'. That's what we all want, right?... I don't know about fat, but this definitely gave me volume and a little lengthening with any clumping at all. It's also possible to build up layers on this without ending up looking like a spider who fell into a bottle of ink. I highly recommend picking this up even if you aren't on a budget. Collection have gotten it right again.

Reusable silicone mascara wands - a MUST HAVE for every makeup artists kit!

I'm excited to share todays post with you! As a makeup artist, I must use disposable mascara wands on clients for hygiene reasons. I usually pick up the packs in Flair. However I find these cheap looking and basically rubbish for putting mascara on someone. But now, my prayers (to the god of makeup) have been answered! Behold, reusable silicone mascara wands!

I've put the word reusable in italics as this is my favourite part about these. Ordinarily you have to throw out your mascara wands after one go, but these can be easily cleaned with hot water and antibacterial soap making them much more economical. The wands come in various styles. The silicone material also makes it incredibly easy to coat the lashes in comparison to the fluffy crappy wands we're used to! :)

These wands were created by makeup artist Nichola Graham and are available starting at 3.00 for a pack of 20. Trust me, you need these in your kit. :)

L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara

I'll be the first to admit I love nothing more then picking up some new makeup, whether it's repurchasing old favourites, or trying something new. However, I'm never too adventurous when it comes to one product: mascara. 

I usually stick to the cheaper brands (namely Catrice) when it comes to mascara as I feel most are pretty much the same. My lashes are reasonably full (on one eye anyway!) and long enough. I don't feel any super formula or new style of brush is going to really change this!

Earlier this week I was in Boots and the stand for the new L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara caught my eye. I threw caution to the wind and decided to give it a go :) It comes in black, turquoise and purple. I stuck to good old black.

The most interesting thing about this product is the wand. It's their first '360 degree flexible cone shaped brush'. It also contains collagen spheres and a trilogy of polymers for hold and staying power.

So all these claims aside, how did it fair? Well I have to say I really like the shape of this wand. I find it easy to cover all my lashes, even the smallest. However if you are too heavy handed you can end up with spider lashes so tread lightly. With regards to the flexible wand, in my opinion it's pointless. You would need to push the brush quite roughly against your lashes for it to bend at all, so to me it seems like a pointless gimmick. The formula doesn't flake during the day, and it is a deep black colour which I'm happy with. And about it's claim of 'mega volume'... judge for yourself:

Overall I'm not too impressed with this mascara. I mainly only picked it up as it was on sale for 8.99. It's regular price will be 13.49, which I think is more than it's worth. I really don't feel it's that much better than my usual 4.49 one! Although I will use this tube, I won't be repurchasing.
